Job summary

Portman Recruitment Limited is assisting a client in Shropshire to recruit a compassionate and resilient Senior Children's Residential Support Worker for a specialist home supporting young people with SEMH.

You will lead shifts, coordinate day-to-day running and provide safe, nurturing care, safeguarding, and relationship-building. A Level 3 Diploma is desirable and we support completion if needed. Excellent induction and progression opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• A positive, proactive and hands-on approach.
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with young people.
• Honesty, empathy and safeguarding commitment.
• Full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts and support the daily operation of the home.
• Provide consistent, child-centred care and emotional support.
• Build safe, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
• Support young people with routines, education, activities and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations.
• Support colleagues and model high standards of practice.
• Implement individual care plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate records and safeguarding documentation.
• Work collaboratively with education, clinical and external professionals.
• Ensure the home remains safe, welcoming and well organised.
• Deputise for the Team Leader when required.
