Job summary

HCRG Care Group is seeking a Senior Community Carer to deliver high-quality care to children with complex medical needs in their homes and community settings. You will mentor colleagues, support service development, and work with families and multidisciplinary teams to personalise care.

In this role you will handle care plans, safeguarding, and ensure safety of equipment, while advocating for the child’s comfort and wellbeing. A full driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Essential NVQ Level 3 in Health or Social Care or a recognised Nursery Nurse qualification.
• Experience caring for children with complex health needs in the home environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Desirable: British Sign Language Level 1 or Makaton.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consistent, high-quality care to children and young people with complex health needs, following care plans and safeguarding procedures.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with children, families and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Escalate changes in a child’s condition to the Clinical Case Manager.
• Ensure safe use of clinical equipment (ventilators, feeding pumps, oxygen monitors).
• Develop and maintain advanced clinical competencies in relevant care procedures.
• Administer medications safely and accurately, with thorough documentation.
• Work as a lone worker, prioritising workload and seeking guidance when needed.
• Provide mentorship and informal training to colleagues.
