Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Band 8a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our busy and dynamic outpatient CAMHS team in Redbridge on a permanent contract. This is an exciting time to be joining our large therapies team as we are embarking on service wide initiatives to meet the mental health needs of our diverse population of children and young people alongside our multiagency colleagues. We have an enthusiastic and established therapy team, and we are looking for a psychotherapist who is passionate about young people\'s mental health and wellbeing to join us in the delivery of high quality and effective CAMHS interventions.

This role requires a post-graduate qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body and have 2 years plus experience in delivering psychotherapy in a CAMHS setting. The successful postholder will have to be a full member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.

Main duties

The post holder will be an effective team member, using their own initiative, supporting their peers and team lead. They will have a commitment to actively support, liaise with other professionals & agencies as we embed a trauma and culturally informed model of practice within the service. They will receive regular clinical supervision from the lead psychologist and will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings. This role is suited to a candidate who is keen on service development, as well as managing a clinical caseload.

Recent CPD organised for our team members include: DBT skills, TF-CBT & ADOS-2. Our team has strong links with the Trust Research & Development department.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High-Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941) pro rata for part time staff.

Qualifications and Experience

Eligibility and Registration

• Essential: NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy; successful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice (e.g. art psychotherapist, psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist); eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (e.g. HCPC, BACP, UKCP, AFT, ACP)

• Essential: Extensive experience of working with difficult, disturbed or challenging children/young people; experience with co-morbid difficulties and special needs; experience with parents/carers/families; ability to carry out assessments and plan treatment; experience with inter-agency meetings and training for others; experience delivering clinical interventions across diverse contexts

• Essential: Knowledge of NHS priorities, governance, risk management, safeguarding, and relevant legislation; knowledge of electronic records systems (e.g. Rio); knowledge of research methodology and interpretation
