Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Charge Nurse to lead the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) at St Mary’s Hospital in London. You will deliver high-quality, safe, compassionate emergency care, contribute to service development, and provide visible clinical leadership within a fast-paced environment.

The role requires excellent communication, strong clinical nursing expertise, and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical expertise in emergency nursing.
• Excellent patient assessment skills.
• Sound management knowledge and visible leadership.
• Ability to lead and develop the SDEC team.

Responsibilities

• Provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the clinical setting and Trust wide.
• Maintain effective communication both verbally and in writing with the multi-disciplinary team and other wards/departments; present information formally.
• Manage episodes of care within own/joint/shared caseload and discharge patients per protocol.
• Lead the implementation of new ways of working and reinforce their use.
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures by the multidisciplinary team and maintain a safe environment for staff and patients.
