Are you a dynamic and motivated professional looking for your next challenge in healthcare education and leadership? We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Band 7 Educational Lead within the Victoria Day Surgery Unit (DSU).

About the Unit

The Victoria DSU is a modern, state-of-the-art facility comprising:

• 8 theatres with associated recovery facilities and admission/discharge units.

• A dedicated treatment room.

• A 23-hour stay ward to support patient care.

Our multidisciplinary team delivers a range of specialist services, including: Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Gynaecology.

Committed to excellence, the department continually enhances its capacity to care for increasingly complex cases, following the guidelines of the British Association of Day Surgery (BADS)

The Role

As the Band 7 Educational Lead, you will play a vital role in driving forward our educational initiatives and perioperative risk management strategies. Working closely with the South Sector educational team, you will ensure that the Victoria Day Surgery Unit and South Sector theatres achieve their educational and quality goals.

  • Your responsibilities will include:

- Leading pre-registration and post-registration education for nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs).

- Supporting educational development for Bands 3 and 4 staff

- Ensuring the successful training and career progression of staff, both in training and post-qualification roles

- Providing practice based clinical supervision to staff within the unit

- Developing Quality Initiatives within the unit

- Leading the recruitment process within the unit

- Coordinating Risk strategies within the unit and feeding into the wider south sector governance groups.

About You

We are looking for a passionate and proactive leader with:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience at Band 6 level or above.
  • Proven experience in workforce education within a healthcare setting.
  • Highly developed leadership and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a complex, multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with diverse stakeholders

Essential qualifications and requirements:

  • Degree-level education (additional educational qualifications are desirable).
  • Current NMC or HCPC registration (evidence required before start date).
  • Membership of the PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland Check
