Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Theatre Senior Charge Nurse

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

Position Details

The main theatres at RAH are seeking a dedicated SCN for the CEPOD theatre. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established theatre team of 9 SCNs, overseeing surgical specialties, anaesthetics, and recovery.

Candidate Requirements
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • At least 2 years of experience in a charge nurse role within a theatre environment
  • Experience in CEPOD/Unscheduled care theatres is advantageous
About the Department

The department features 9 theatres conducting a range of surgical procedures daily, including elective and emergency cases. The CEPOD theatre operates 24/7, Monday to Sunday, with additional facilities like a 12-bed recovery area, reception suite, and a service for colorectal robotic surgery at QEUH.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support and lead theatre teams, working alongside the lead nurse and theatre coordinator
  • Ensure high standards of patient-centred care
  • Attend meetings and delegate tasks in the absence of the Lead Nurse
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work across a 7-day service and within multiple NHS sites as needed
Qualifications

Registered with NMC/HCPC.
