Job summary

Microtech Global Ltd. in Bristol is seeking a Senior Characterization Engineer to lead the planning and execution of bench and PVT characterization activities for next-generation high-speed optical and electrical semiconductor products.

The role combines hands-on characterization, signal integrity, test automation and data analysis, working with international teams across the UK, North America and Mexico. Hybrid work model with office days and remote Fridays is offered.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng in Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 510 years' relevant industry experience.
• Strong experience with high-speed analogue semiconductor products and signal integrity testing.
• Hands-on Python-based test automation experience.
• Strong understanding of high-speed/high-frequency PCB design principles.
• Experience with advanced electronic test equipment in a lab.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead NPIs characterization: test planning, equipment, fixtures.
• Develop robust, repeatable automated test environments.
• Develop Python-based test automation and measurement methods.
• Perform hands-on characterization with advanced test equipment.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Troubleshoot hardware and SI issues.
• Produce detailed technical reports and present findings.
• Support process improvements in characterization and test methods.
• Contribute to SI improvements and advanced test solutions.
• Explore AI-based tools to improve workflows.
• Mentor junior engineers and share expertise.
• Stay current with emerging high-speed technologies.
