Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced CDM Advisor to join our Energy team in Glasgow. You will help clients and supply chain meet duties under CDM 2015 across project lifecycles—from early design to handover—on substations, grids, storage, renewables and generation projects.

You will advise on CDM 2015, lead design risk management and coordinate safety across pre-construction and construction phases, with opportunities to develop professionally and work on major energy projects in a flexible

Qualifications

• Significant 5+ years in CDM, construction health and safety, and design risk management.
• Thorough working knowledge of CDM 2015 and UK safety legislation.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
• Ability to read and challenge design documents.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advise project teams, clients and designers on CDM 2015 duties.
• Support Principal Designer role and coordinate safety during pre-construction.
• Lead design risk management including HAZID workshops and designer risk assessments.
• Ensure designers eliminate or control foreseeable construction risks.
• Prepare, review and manage Pre-Construction Information (PCI) packs.
• Review Construction Phase Plans for suitability before work starts.
• Develop and hand over the Health and Safety File.
• Assess duty holder competence and resourcing, including supply chain selection.
• Carry out site visits, inspections and audits to drive improvement.
• Prepare F10 notifications and ensure they are submitted to the HSE where required.
• Deliver CDM briefings and toolbox talks to staff.
• Support incident investigations and share lessons learned.
• Keep up to date with legislation and help develop company CDM procedures.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, designers and internal stakeholders.
