Cardiff and Vale College’s Foundation Learning department delivers courses for young people with Additional Learning Needs and/or Disabilities and those at risk of becoming NEET. The department grows year on year and our curriculum for 2023/24 includes 31 courses for 400+ potential learners across 6 different sites.

All our courses use a mixture of traditional classroom-based lessons and project-based learning to create a vibrant and engaging curriculum and we are looking for a senior technician to support this curriculum.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining safe systems of work in our independent living skills kitchens and for the stock management and ordering related to these spaces and the department's enterprise projects.

You will be responsible for providing Food Hygiene and Safety training to both learners and course tutors to ensure that our kitchen areas are compliant with Local EHO and Food Standards Agency regulations. As you will be delivering this training then you must hold a Level 3 Managing Food Safety and Hygiene qualification.

You will have experience of working within hospitality or catering professions with the desire to bring your skills to ensure that our learners experience meaningful learning experiences that develop them as independent, skilled, and employable people. You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to appropriately manage and maintain compliance concerning food hygiene and safety.

The ability to speak Welsh is not essential for this role but we encourage applicants who can converse with our learners, staff, and partners through the medium of Welsh.
