Senior Case Worker, Safe Haven North Tyneside

Enhancements paid for evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Hours Monday - Sunday, between 2pm - 10pm

We have a fantastic opportunity for Senior Case Workers to join our amazing new service which is launching in July 2025 in Wallsend. We are looking for resilient, compassionate individuals to work in our brand new Safe Haven.

You will support people who are referred through agreed pathways and are deemed not in need of an urgent statutory response to deliver specialist non-clinical crisis support. You will work in partnership within the relevant community, and with relevant statutory, voluntary or community agencies to support individuals in distress. As a Senior Case Worker you will engage in supervision and training with an active commitment to personal development of self and the that of the wider team.

Main duties of the job

Welcome individuals that come to the service, and liaise with statutory and non-statutory services to raise awareness of the service, its accessibility criteria and ensure the organisation meets commission targets.

Supervise caseworkers to ensure support to all service requirements and client allocation to support with the service provision.

Support the Team Lead/Manager in carrying out delegated administrative tasks in areas such as case audits, data collection, risk assessment, monitoring targets and petty cash to ensure smooth running of the service and monitor the effectiveness of the service.

Undertake personalised action planning, risk assessment and review with people who have long-term conditions to support mental health recovery and achieving goals.

Assist with the implementation and monitoring of all policies, including with checking and signing off individual and workplace risk assessment to ensure internal policies and processes are being followed.

Undertake any reasonable duties/responsibilities to meet the needs of the organisation.

When at the Safe Haven you will hold responsibility for the opening and closure of the premises, ensuring policies and procedures are followed correctly, and keys are handled responsibly.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Case Worker to join our brand new service which is launching at the beginning of July. We are looking for resilient, compassionate individuals to work in our new Safe Haven in Wallsend.

You will provide a safe and welcoming environment in person and over the phone for all clients, using de-escalation skills, active listening and calm communication. To support the person to develop their knowledge, skills and confidence to withstand future life challenges, whilst maintaining good mental health and wellbeing, and liaising with appropriate services.

About the role

Co-produce and support the individual to implement a crisis plan, relapse prevention and other self-management tools such as Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), in partnership with the person, maintaining hope and optimism to support the individual in their recovery.

Provide signposting and guidance, as well as support where appropriate to the person to access services and resources they need. The amount and intensity of this support will vary depending on the person's needs, mental health and life circumstances to ensure they are supported during their recovery.

Develop knowledge of the local care pathways and local community knowledge (including cultural sensitivities) to meet service users' needs and support the individual journey.

Support people to develop lasting, independent peer-support networks beyond the Service to enable them to maintain their recovery.

Manage documentation and time effectively, ensuring up to date and clear record keeping in line with organisational policies, making best use of supervision, training and staff development.

Undertake any reasonable duties/responsibilities to meet the needs of the organisation.

About you

Demonstrable experience of working 1:1 with service users with complex needs

Demonstrable experience working within Health, social care or VCSE systems

Awareness of Health and Social care systems

Awareness of national and local organisations and other resources that can support individuals to improve and maintain good mental health

Awareness of recovery in the context of mental health

Awareness of the effects of stigma and discrimination

Awareness of issues surrounding homelessness, financial inclusion or substance misuse
