Main purpose of the role

Senior Carers ensure timely and effective completion of supervisions, conduct regular medication audits, liaise with care coordinators to identify rota gaps, and support audits to maintain CQC compliance. They support care support workers and mobile breakdown care workers to meet service users' personal and domestic care needs during staff absences.

Core responsibilities
  • Provide reliable support to community-based Care Support Workers, including completing audits and promoting compassionate care practices that respect service users' dignity and independence.
  • Mentor new care support workers through community observations and guidance during their first 12 weeks.
  • Contribute to service monitoring, evaluation, and reviews.
  • Conduct supervisions with care support workers.
  • Collaborate with other teams to respond to care concerns or changes promptly.
  • Develop positive relationships with service users and their families, providing reassurance and information.
  • Deliver care in line with person-centred care plans, respecting individual needs and cultural considerations.
  • Maintain accurate care records, including times, care provided, and concerns.
  • Follow policies on accessing service users' properties and reporting issues.
  • Provide direct personal care when required, working with health and social care professionals to meet needs effectively.
Skills and Experience
  • Level 3 qualification in health and social care or willingness to work towards.
  • Experience in a social care setting.
  • Full driver's license and personal vehicle for work use.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Comfortable using smartphones and apps.
  • Commitment to quality, customer service, and best practices.
