Job summary

Retain Healthcare in Cheltenham is seeking a Senior Carer to deliver community and in-home care. You will conduct assessments, support staff and contribute to quality checks across the local area.

Key requirements include a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, a Full UK Driving Licence, and the ability to travel between visits. You will work full-time and help the office team with care enquiries and records.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering care in the community.
• Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is required.
• Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own car is required.
• Ability to travel reliably between visits across the local area.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assessments at the first visit, within training and competence, identifying needs, preferences and risks.
• Complete and update care plans and risk assessments, referring concerns to the appropriate manager.
• Help new care packages start smoothly, ensuring staff have clear information and guidance.
• Deliver compassionate, person-centred care that promotes dignity, choice and independence.
• Support and mentor care workers through shadow shifts, practical guidance and feedback.
• Carry out spot checks, reviews and staff supervisions as delegated.
• Support the office team with rota changes, care enquiries, accurate records and communication with staff and families.
• Identify and promptly report changes in people’s health, wellbeing or support needs.
• Liaise with relatives, social workers, district nurses and other professionals.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and help maintain high standards of care.

Putting people at the heart of everything we do, you’ll combine hands-on care with assessments, staff support and quality checks. This is an active role working across the community and alongside the office team.

Your role
