Senior Autism Practitioner (Team Leader)
  • Location: Orkney Area
  • Job Type: Full-time, Fixed Term Contract (1 year)
  • Salary: Starting at £37,041, rising to £37,591 after probation, with potential progression to £39,464 (inclusive of Island Allowance)

We are recruiting for adedicated Senior Autism Practitioner for our client basedin Orkney. This role involves significant responsibility, including Registered Manager duties, and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a substantial impact on our services.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the Autism Practitioner teams to ensure high-quality support aligned with the organisation's values, aims, and objectives.
  • Lead and develop services tailored for autistic individuals.
  • Coach and mentor the team to deliver autonomous, high-quality support in accordance with Scottish Autism policies, Care Inspectorate standards, and SSSC regulations.
  • Manage rota processes to maintain appropriate staffing levels across services.
  • Design, review, and adapt care environments to meet individual needs and comply with Health and Social Care Standards.
  • Provide on-call support to ensure 24-hour assistance for staff and supported individuals.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to enhance service effectiveness.
  • Manage service finances and participate in recruitment processes to align staffing with budget allocations.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance leadership skills and service quality.
  • Implement low arousal support principles to reduce and aim to eliminate restraint.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with supported individuals, their families, and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
  • Experience in management within a similar or equivalent role, preferably in health and social care.
  • Knowledge of financial management and rota systems.
  • Proficiency in IT systems.
  • Willingness to work towards or hold SVQ 4 in Health and Social Care and Leadership and Management Certificate, as required by the Scottish Social Services Council.
  • Extensive knowledge of autism and current best practices.
  • Understanding of Care Inspectorate and SSSC regulations.
