Senior Care & Support Worker

£18,528 pa (25 hours per week)

Furze Brake, Newport, Isle of Wight

The role

Southern Housing is looking for a Senior Care Worker to join our scheme at Furze Brake, Newport, Isle of Wight.

As a Senior Care Worker, you will assist the Registered Manager onsite to deliver high-quality care for our elderly and frail residents, ensuring compliance with CQC regulations and adherence to all Health & Safety protocols.

This is a part-time position of 25 hours, with working hours between 9am-5pm.

This role involves shift work, which may include weekends and bank holidays.

You will need a valid UK Driving License and access to your own vehicle.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in staff supervision, including appraisals, absence monitoring, and providing support and training for staff development and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintaining awareness of legislative and contractual agreements to ensure effective and quality service provision.
  • Monitoring and assisting with resident involvement, daily activities, and social inclusion within the wider community.
  • Assisting in the assessment of potential residents, if required.
  • Providing person-centred care to residents as per their care plans, including intimate personal care.
  • Ensuring care delivery promotes independence, rights, choices, and community inclusion.

What you’ll need

  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) or actively studying towards it.
  • Basic First Aid certificate.
  • Proven knowledge of health & safety appropriate to the role.
  • Knowledge of local services.
  • Effective listening and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
