Job summary

Manpower UK is recruiting a permanent Cook in Carlisle to plan, prepare and serve nutritious meals, supporting residents including those living with dementia. The role offers 36 hours per week (full time) or part time options, with a salary up to £26,812.50 per annum and an hourly rate of £13.75.

You will work in a care environment, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety, with DBS checks and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar cooking or catering role.
• Strong practical cooking skills and a passion for preparing fresh meals.
• Experience of menu planning and catering for groups.
• Understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach.
• Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Relevant catering qualifications or training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in line with menu plans.
• Create varied weekly menus that meet the dietary and nutritional needs of residents.
• Prepare specialist and textured diets where required.
• Ensure all food preparation, storage and serving complies with food hygiene regulations.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.
• Order supplies, manage stock levels and monitor kitchen inventory.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and residents where appropriate.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain accurate records.
