Job summary

Prestwick Care in Sunderland is seeking a Senior Care Assistant to lead care delivery with compassion and professionalism. You will provide high-quality, person-centred care, supervise staff, and uphold safety and dignity for residents.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Senior Carer or Team Leader role within care settings.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards).
  • English proficiency sufficient to carry out the role effectively.
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check and Right to Work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality personal care and support to residents, ensuring comfort, dignity and safety.
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior care staff, promoting best practice.
  • Develop, implement and review person-centred care plans and risk assessments.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities including mobility, bathing, dressing and meals.
  • Monitor, record and report residents’ condition and escalate concerns to nursing staff.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Participate in audits, handovers and regular team meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding policies and health & safety procedures

In this Senior Care Assistant role, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality, person-centred care and leadership within our care home, ensuring residents’ comfort, dignity and wellbeing at all times.   • Ability to support and motivate employees.
  • Compassionate and professional approach with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Knowledge of care planning, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • English proficiency sufficient to carry out the role effectively.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
  • Satisfactory Right to Work in the UK (must be maintained).
