Job summary

Mearns View Care Home, a purpose-built 67-bed facility in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, is seeking a Senior Care Assistant. You will guide the team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care, oversee shifts, and manage medication with careful monitoring of residents’ wellbeing.

You will maintain care records and collaborate with families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuous care.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is required (minimum).
• Medication administration training with competency is essential.
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support your team to deliver high quality, person-centred care.
• Oversee the smooth running of your shift and ensure care is well organised and safe.
• Oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to changes.

Job description

Our purpose built, luxury 67-bed care facility is located in the charming town of Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire. We are proud to provide a range of services which includes Residential, Nursing, Dementia, Respite & Palliative Care.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

• £14.50 per hour
• Contracted to 33 hours per week
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Senior Care Assistant, you will guide and support your team in delivering safe, high quality, person centred care that makes a real difference every day to our residents.

You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered to a high standard. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents’ wellbeing and respond to any changes, ensuring care remains safe and appropriate.

You will maintain accurate care records and work closely with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals to ensure clear communication and continuity of care.

We Are Looking For

• SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum), with Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards
• Medication administration training with competency is essential
• Experience supporting or leading a care team is beneficial
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• A caring, compassionate and professional approach
