Job summary

University of Bristol invites applications for a Research Associate or Senior Research Associate to join a British Heart Foundation-funded programme studying how neural circuits influence cardioprotection and cardiac microcirculation.

The role spans in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo work, including surgical myocardial infarction models, viral vector mapping, human cell culture models, and advanced imaging; the grade will depend on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with in vivo surgical procedures in rodents (e.g., induction of myocardial infarction/heart failure) and stereotaxic surgery.
• Experience with cell culture (primary cells, human iPSC/hPSC-derived models) or in vivo models of cardiac pathology and advanced imaging.
• PhD in a relevant subject for Grade I; post-doctoral experience and first-author publications for Grade J.

Responsibilities

• Plan, carry out and analyse experiments spanning in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo approaches.
• Lead complex, multi-technique experiments for Grade J and manage transgenic mouse colonies.
• Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation and present findings at scientific meetings.
