Senior Cardio-Respiratory Healthcare Science Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated SeniorHealthcare Science Assistant with administrative duties to work as part of ourfriendly team providing a diagnostic Cardiology and Respiratory service to bothin-patients and out-patients. The post will also involve some administrativeand reception duties, including dealing with patient and staff queries,managing clinics on the Trust IT systems and making and amending appointments.The principal hospitals within County Durham and Darlington NHS FoundationTrust are University Hospital of North Durham, Darlington Memorial Hospital,Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital. The Cardiology andRespiratory Investigation Units provide a broad range of invasive and noninvasive procedures. We are committed toproviding learning and development opportunities to all our staff.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity forsomeone who would enjoy a post combining both clinical and administrative work

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as part of a team in abusy Cardio-Respiratory Department.

As a department, we pride ourselves on thequality of diagnostic services we provide for patients. You should have a good understanding of, orhave experience of working in a medical environment and have the ability toremain calm, especially in stressful situations. Ideally, you should betechnically competent to perform 12 lead ECGs, as well as a number of otherbasic diagnostic procedures but this is not essential. Experience of receptionand administrative work would also be useful. You should enjoy training otherstaff.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

This post will be based at Darlington Memorial Hospital,however the post holder will be expected to be flexible and there will be somerequirement to work at Bishop Auckland.You may also be required to support services at the other sites withinthe Trust.

Minimum qualifications: NVQ level 2 in Care or 4GCSE passes grade 4 or above (or equivalent), one to be English Language. Toeither hold, or be prepared to work towards obtaining the Society forCardiological Science and Technology Certificate in Electrocardiography, orequivalent, within the first year of employment.
