Job summary

Mural is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and improve the Canvas platform. You’ll focus on real-time collaboration, rendering, and editor performance to keep the Mural editor fast, reliable, and intuitive for users.

You’ll collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to reduce platform complexity, raise engineering quality, and deliver scalable, developer-friendly solutions. Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and shipping large-scale production software in an agile team.
• Fluent in modern JavaScript/TypeScript with React/Node.js familiarity.
• Strong design for scalable, reliable, high-performance systems.
• Experience designing clean API contracts and service boundaries.
• Experience with distributed, concurrent, or low-latency systems and synchronization.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled product capabilities and integration.
• Strong communication and collaboration across Product, Design, and Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver Canvas platform capabilities from problem definition to release and iteration.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to shape high-quality user experiences.
• Design and build maintainable platform systems with focus on quality and performance.
• Contribute to developer-friendly APIs and platform contracts.
• Prototype, implement, test, document, and measure engineering work using AI-assisted tools.
• Mentor teammates, participate in design reviews, and improve engineering practices.
• Work on large-scale real-time collaboration, rendering, and document models.
