Job summary

MW Recruitment Limited is seeking an accomplished Senior Calypso Business Analyst to lead a team and work across Operations, Product Management and Technology to enhance the Calypso platform. The role involves translating complex business requirements into clear specs, testing, UAT and successful production implementation.

You will mentor 4+ staff, collaborate with clients and vendors, and drive improvements across back-office functions and capital markets products.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience as a Calypso Business Analyst in financial services.
• Strong hands-on Calypso knowledge across Back Office, Static Data, cash & securities, collateral, accounting and risk.
• Proven BA across complex capital markets with full lifecycle delivery.
• Experience with both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
• Degree in a numerical discipline from a leading university.

Our client is a highly regarded financial markets organisation operating at the heart of the capital markets and clearing sector. They are seeking an accomplished Senior Calypso Business Analyst to join their established technology function.

This is a senior, hands-on position offering the opportunity to lead a team of Business Analysts while working closely with Operations, Product Management and Technology. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and enhancement of the Calypso platform, taking complex business requirements from initial specification through testing, UAT and successful production implementation.

The Role

You will lead and support a team of 4+ staff and act as a key point of contact between business users, clients, technology teams and external software vendors.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and mentoring a team of Business Analysts
• Working closely with Operations, Product Management and Technology teams
• Gathering and analysing internal and external business requirements
• Translating requirements into clear functional specifications and test plans
• Configuring and enhancing the Calypso application
• Managing new requirements from initial business specification through to go-live
• Onboarding new products and services from UAT into Production
• Supporting client User Acceptance Testing and the internal QA function
• Preparing and delivering system and solution demonstrations to clients
• Liaising with Calypso and other software vendors
• Training and developing junior members of the team
• Identifying the root cause of complex issues and driving effective solutions and improvements
• Contributing to the continued development of processes, systems and working practices

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have substantial Calypso Business Analysis experience gained within financial services, combined with strong capital markets product knowledge.

You will ideally demonstrate:

• 6+ years' experience working as a Calypso Business Analyst within financial services
• Strong hands-on Calypso knowledge, particularly across Back Office, Static Data, Cash & Securities Management, Collateral Management, Accounting, Limits and Risk Management
• Strong product knowledge across Interest Rate Derivatives, Fixed Income, FX, FX Options, Equities and Exchange Traded Derivatives, including Futures and Options
• Proven Business Analysis experience within complex financial markets environments
• Experience delivering requirements throughout the full lifecycle, from initial specification through to production
• Strong requirements gathering, functional specification and test planning capabilities
• Experience of both Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies
• A strong academic background, ideally with a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or another highly numerical discipline from a leading university
• Excellent analytical and numerical capabilities
• The ability to communicate effectively with business users, clients and technology professionals at all levels
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and determine appropriate priorities
• A proactive approach with the ability to drive resolutions and improvements rather than simply maintain existing processes
• A strong interest in capital markets, clearing and financial markets technology
