Job summary

A leading company in construction and engineering is seeking a Senior CAD Technician to join their team in Manchester. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in using CAD software, including AutoCAD and Revit, and will support various projects by preparing detailed design drawings. Responsibilities include liaising with project teams, developing CAD models, and ensuring quality control of design documentation. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in construction and civil engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction industry experience required.
• Experience with large-scale construction projects necessary.
• Civil engineering knowledge, especially in structures and tunnelling.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings with relevant software.
• Coordinate with internal and external design teams.
• Ensure quality check of drawings as per company standards.

• Preparation of detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or other relevant software.
• Preparation of varied project design drawings, including Engineering Models, Route maps, Strip maps, Working Areas, Site Establishment, Traffic Management maps, Crossing drawings, etc.
• Coordinate and collaborate with internal & external team members / design teams to assist in the drafting process, providing independent checking & review services where required.
• Provide the Project Engineering Team with CAD support throughout the project.
• Liaise with colleagues, other departments and project teams with respect to drawing requirements.
• Develop and revise 3D CAD models in coordination with Designers and Construction Managers and carry out clash detection.
• Prepare drawings in accordance with current standards and codes of practice including reinforced concrete detailing/ scheduling and structural steel detailing.
• Ensure that drawings are prepared, quality checked, stored, issued and archived in accordance with Company procedures.
• Assist, when required, with storage, filing and archiving of documents.
• Ensuring that the Engineering Data held on the Project Server is current and up to date at all times, demonstrating appropriate revision control.
• Input into the production of monthly progress reports.
• Ensure that chargeable work can be evaluated by the preparation of adequate records of time spent.
• Assist in project planning and scheduling, including resource allocation.
• Train other staff members on the use of Autodesk/AutoCAD by means of individual coaching group training courses as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Required

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D and other relevant Autodesk software
• Construction Industry Experience – 5+ Years
• Experience on large scale construction projects
• ONC/HNC or equivalent in relevant discipline.
• Civil Engineering knowledge/experience (structures, temporary works and tunnelling in particular)
• Proficiency in Inventor/Navisworks/SketchUp
