Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a senior C&I engineering lead to drive multidisciplinary design across the full lifecycle, from concept to commissioning, for safety-critical nuclear projects. You will own key deliverables, develop architectures, and ensure compliance with safety standards while mentoring juniors and engaging with clients and suppliers.

Indicative salary range: £52k–£67k, subject to experience. Hybrid working culture and a broad rewards package are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Instrumentation or Control engineering.
• Strong understanding of safety instrumented systems and nuclear safety principles.
• Clear communication and ability to influence and guide others.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design across full lifecycle from concept to commissioning.
• Own deliverables: specifications, control philosophies, basis of design, I/O lists, and safety substantiation reports.
• Develop control system architectures including I/O, protocols, networks, and cybersecurity considerations.
• Contribute to HAZOPs, SIL assessments, and functional safety standards; support procurement and construction with documentation and leadership.
• Mentor junior colleagues and act as a technical contact for clients and suppliers.
