Job summary

Gold Group in Plymouth is seeking a Senior C&I Engineer to join a multi-disciplined team. The role focuses on control and instrumentation systems, lifecycle support, and ensuring safety, regulatory and operational requirements are met.

The successful candidate will lead design reviews, hazard studies, and engineering substantiation, while developing documentation and mentoring junior engineers in a hybrid on-site role with 2+ days on-site.

Qualifications

• Degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
• C&I engineering experience within a highly regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation and functional safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for control and instrumentation systems.
• Develop, review and approve C&I designs, calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Support maintenance, fault investigations, obsolescence management and plant modifications.
• Engage directly with customers, project teams and regulators to ensure engineering solutions meet requirements.
• Lead design reviews, hazard studies and engineering substantiation activities.
• Support installation, commissioning, testing and operational readiness activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering capability development.

Job Title: Senior C&I Engineer

Location: Plymouth - Hybrid 2+ days per week on-site

Role Type: Permanent

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience

Our client, an established engineering consultancy, require an experienced Senior C&I Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team based in Plymouth.

The Control & Instrumentation Engineering team works collaboratively with customers and multi-disciplinary engineering teams to support complex engineering assets and facilities. The role is responsible for providing technical leadership on control and instrumentation systems, supporting asset lifecycle management, developing modifications and upgrades, and ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory and operational requirements.
