Job description

Our client is looking for an Experienced Senior C&I Engineer to work on a contract basis based in Reading. You will be involved in concept studies through to detailed design, offering a variety of interesting work across multiple industries such as Water, Transport, and Energy, including Green Energy, Nuclear, and Oil & Gas.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical input for electrical discipline in projects and proposals, including the preparation, checking, and/or approval of engineering documentation, equipment, and materials.
• Mentor and develop graduate engineers.
• Ensure compliance with applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation, and company/client standards and procedures.
• Prepare work scopes and equipment requisitions for HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, power factor correction, trace-heating, lighting, and other electrical equipment.
• Review supplier quotations and prepare technical bid assessments.

About You:
• You will be degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electronic/Electrical/Control Engineering).
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body, or evidence of working towards achieving these professional titles.
• Strong working knowledge of design practices and installation requirements for the discipline across a range of industries, with extensive knowledge of UK legislation, standards, and HSE requirements.
• More than 10 years of engineering experience in the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, and/or Water sectors.
• Experience with the requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment, including ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, and EMC Compliance.
