We are currently seeking a Senior/Principal C&I Engineer to join the Decommissioning & Waste Services market within our Nuclear & Power business. Ideally based in Northwest England although other locations UK wide can be considered.

You will work in our market which is predominantly focused on delivering engineering and waste management projects for clients within the Nuclear Decommissioning sector, with some projects focused on other stages of the nuclear lifecycle. We tackle projects that have varied engineering, nuclear and safety challenges, requiring proactive and diverse delivery teams working collaboratively to deliver high-quality solutions.

The Role:

You will join an existing EC&I team and be responsible for delivering complex design packages for key nuclear clients. You will oversee and develop current engineers and collaborate with wider engineering disciplines.

The role involves leading projects or demonstrating strong capabilities to contribute to multi-disciplinary design delivery autonomously, with minimal oversight.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Supporting the development of estimates for scope of work and resources to aid bids.
2. Developing design solutions aligned with time, cost, and quality targets.
3. Understanding contractual and performance requirements, supporting their definition through design, build, and commissioning.
4. Producing documentation for design reviews, including diagrams, specifications, calculations, and justifications.
5. Ensuring comprehensive design evidence and compliance with contractual, safety, environmental, and company standards.
6. Reviewing supplier documentation and conducting design reviews and presentations to customers.

The Individual:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in:

1. Full lifecycle engineering.
2. Technical report writing and design justification.
3. Technical presentations and factory acceptance testing.

Deep understanding of at least one of the following areas:

1. Instrumentation and control systems, including PID control.
2. Electrical circuit design, EMC precautions, power supply characteristics.
3. Safety Integrity Levels, BS EN 61508/61511.
4. Machinery Safety and UKCA Marking.
5. PLC programming.
