Job summary

Octagon Group in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (C/C++) to design, develop and maintain backend software with end-to-end ownership.

You will work closely with product teams to translate customer requirements into high-performance software and contribute to architecture and testing efforts to meet demanding timelines.

This role also offers the opportunity to mentor engineers and contribute to product evolution within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming and OO design skills.
• Experience with Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex backend software solutions with full end-to-end ownership
• Contribute to system architecture and ongoing product evolution
• Develop high-quality, performant software to agreed timescales
• Collaborate closely with product owners and cross-functional teams
• Support testing and quality-focused activities to ensure excellent product delivery
• Mentor and support junior engineers within the team
