Job summary

BPA is a precision engineering specialist seeking an experienced Buyer to secure materials, tooling and subcontract services to support customer delivery schedules. You will work with Production, Engineering and senior management in a fast-paced environment, maintaining strong supplier relationships and delivering best value.

Key responsibilities include managing purchase orders, source materials to match production plans, and driving cost reductions while ensuring quality and delivery standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Buyer, Purchasing Coordinator or Procurement professional within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
• Experience sourcing engineering materials, components, tooling and subcontract services.
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
• Commercially aware with a strong understanding of cost, quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day purchasing requirements for materials, tooling, consumables, subcontract services and other manufacturing needs.
• Raise and manage purchase orders with accurate pricing, quantities, specifications and delivery dates.
• Source materials and components in line with production schedules and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Production Planning and Engineering to understand upcoming demand and availability of materials.
• Handle multiple purchasing priorities and urgent requirements in a fast-paced environment.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships; identify and onboard new suppliers as needed.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms and commercial agreements to achieve best value.
• Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality and delivery.
• Proactively chase suppliers to prevent potential supply issues.
