Vickerstock are working in partnership with a growing and very successful construction businessbusiness on the appointment of a Senior Buyer. This is a full-time permanent position which offers a long-term career with the chance to move upwards in line with their expansion plans.

As the Senior Buyer, you will assist in the procurement of all Mechanical & Electrical material & contracted works for all live projects, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement.

In your new role:

• Source, negotiate, and procure mechanical and electrical components, equipment, and materials, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
• Identify and select reliable suppliers and contractors to support ongoing live projects.
• Ensure all mechanical components comply with technical specifications and quality standards, addressing any concerns in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to guarantee product compatibility.
• Manage the delivery of materials and plant to site professionally and efficiently by maintaining an informative draw-off schedule to ensure availability when required.
• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with overall company objectives.
• Prepare reports detailing procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
• Liaise with the commercial lead to ensure project expenditures remain within budget.
• Build, manage, and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and construction professionals, including site operatives.
• Ensure timely clearance of supplier invoices to maintain the company’s standard of strong supplier relations.

What you will need to succeed:

• 3 years' recent experience, buying mechanical and/or electrical components.
• Experience in strategic buying i.e., contract negotiation, supplier sourcing and auditing.
• Demonstrable experience in producing high value cost reductions
• Ability to work on multiple projects working to strict deadlines.

Desirable:

• Experience in the M&E sector
