Job summary

ISS Labour is assisting an established infrastructure contractor in Hertfordshire to recruit a Senior Buyer for major projects in the power, utilities and digital infrastructure sectors. You will own procurement across multiple infrastructure initiatives, handling materials, equipment, services and subcontract requirements.

Key responsibilities include end-to-end procurement from sourcing to delivery, leading supplier negotiations, and managing key supplier relationships while mitigating risks.

Qualifications

• End-to-end procurement experience in a project-led environment.
• Experience procuring electrical and mechanical equipment for major infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial and supplier negotiation skills.
• Experience managing key suppliers and supply-chain performance.
• Understanding of project programmes, lead times and procurement risk.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activity from initial requirement through sourcing, negotiation, order placement and delivery.
• Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers and secure competitive terms.
• Manage key supplier relationships and monitor performance.
• Identify and manage supply-chain risks that could impact project delivery.
• Take ownership of allocated procurement categories.
• Work closely with project, commercial, operational and finance teams.
• Monitor market conditions, pricing and availability.
• Support supplier selection, onboarding and performance reviews.
• Expedite critical orders against project programmes.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
