Job Description: Senior Buyer

Are you a proactive, forward-thinking professional with a passion for delivering excellence in procurement? Join VVB Engineering as a Senior Buyer and play a key role in ensuring the project has a fit-for-purpose supply chain, supplying materials in line with project budgets and forecasts, on time and in full, to prevent delays to project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake end-to-end procurement activities, from planning to contract execution.
  • Manage procurement activities within assigned areas, developing market/category knowledge to inform decisions.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best prices without compromising quality, including pricing, payment terms, and contractual agreements.
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with governance frameworks.
  • Produce procurement documentation such as plans and tender documents, obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Record and report savings according to guidelines.
  • Contribute to lessons learned to improve future procurement activities.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and communicate effectively during procurement processes.
  • Maintain ethical standards in all tasks and relationships.
  • Conduct regular reviews with Project Managers to ensure alignment.
  • Monitor supply chain performance and manage delays or contractual changes accordingly.
Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP Business One.
  • Strong knowledge of Contract Law and NEC contracts.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Desirable:

  • Experience with JCT contracts.
Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Qualification in Procurement or equivalent.

Desirable:

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
