Job summary

CPXR in Folkestone is seeking a hands-on Buyer for civil engineering and groundworks projects. You will source materials, manage supplier relationships and place purchase orders to support busy project teams.

You’ll negotiate quotations, monitor costs and lead times while coordinating with QS, estimators and site teams. The role offers varied civil projects and opportunities for progression within an established subcontractor.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Buyer, Assistant Buyer or Procurement Buyer.
• Background within civil engineering, groundworks or construction.
• Experience procuring construction materials and subcontract services.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Commercially aware with excellent organisational skills.
• Confident communicating with suppliers and internal teams.
• Knowledge of construction procurement processes.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure materials, plant and subcontract services
• Obtain and negotiate competitive quotations from suppliers
• Manage supplier relationships and maintain an effective supply chain
• Place and manage purchase orders in line with project requirements
• Monitor costs, lead times and material availability
• Work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Estimators and Site Teams
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering
