Division info:

The Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.

Summary of position:

Senior Buyer is responsible for the development and execution of Category strategies as designated, that will drive long-term improvements in Quality, Cost and Delivery, with engagement and support of key stakeholders that enhance business competitive and commercial performance, its customers and its suppliers. Operates across the full product / service life cycle ensuring supplier commercial issues are resolved effectively and efficiently. Manages the sourcing of parts / services including the raising and management of all purchase documents within the ERP or other Procurement systems where designated, ensuring adherence to production milestone requirements.

Main responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers
  • Evaluating, selecting, and recommending new vendors to management.
  • Managing inventory levels and forecasting future needs
  • Working with other departments to ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Ensuring quality standards are met by suppliers
  • Resolving any supplier issues or concerns

Objectives

  • Drive their suppliers to deliver 100% OTIF, whilst actioning exception messages to control inventory as per targets To develop and implement strategies for procuring and managing commodities in a way that minimizes cost and risk while maximizing quality
  • To work with suppliers to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms & conditions
  • To monitor market trends and developments in order to make informed decisions about commodity procurement
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies & procedures
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g. purchasing, finance, operations) as well as external stakeholders (e.g. suppliers)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, economics, or a similar field and/or CIPS.
  • At least four years' experience in supply chain or commodity management.
  • Solid knowledge of financial markets that influence commodity prices.
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain management and procurement processes
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors and suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
