Overview

My client based on the outskirts of St. Ives Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for a Buyer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The salary is £32-38,000.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Purchasing Manager in expediting goods, materials, and services to meet the company’s operational needs.
• Support in procuring materials and services considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.
• Process customer BoM’s onto internal quoting documentation to allow supplier pricing to be collated accurately prior to sales quoting the end customer.
• Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets after agreement with the Purchasing Manager.
• Check order acknowledgements to confirm delivery timescales and ensure there are no delays; provide Stores with the required kitting documentation once all orders are confirmed.
• Maintain continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems that may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
• Maintain accurate records of all orders within MRP.
• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
• Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers as needed.
• Lead meetings with current suppliers and meet with potential new suppliers.
• Aid in the assessment and evaluation of suppliers and help undertake performance reviews to manage performance improvement activities; assist in negotiating contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings.
• Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
• Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
• Ensure a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
• Be responsible for a list of agreed customer accounts over and above day-to-day purchasing.
• Respond flexibly to requests by management within the competence and scope of the jobholder.
