Job description

During a period of continued growth and acquisition for this bespoke protective equipment manufacturer, there is now an opportunity for a proactive purchasing professional to join the team to support purchasing development at their site in St Helens.

Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, key responsibilities as Senior Buyer will be to:

  1. Negotiate favourable terms for the business with new and existing suppliers.
  2. Purchase goods, raw materials and services to meet cost, quality and delivery targets.
  3. Identify and improve current transactional processes within the purchasing function.
  4. Reduce inventory and improve supplier lead times.
  5. Drive supplier improvement activity for delivery, quality and cost.
  6. Prepare and raise purchase orders.
  7. Implement and report on supplier performance measures, identifying risk to supply chain and work to resolve.
  8. Compile data relating to supplier performance.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Have purchasing experience gained within manufacturing.
  2. Have a proactive approach to supplier negotiations.
  3. Be able to build strong relationships with suppliers.
  4. Ideally be CIPS qualified or willing to study.
  5. Have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
