About the role

We seek an enthusiastic, experienced Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing team within the Materials department. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the successful candidate will manage all purchasing aspects, including:

  • Running daily MRP reports and raising purchase orders; managing requisitions and quotations.
  • Addressing shortages or potential shortages promptly.
  • Managing delivery schedules and order books for production, engineering, and NPI projects to ensure cost-effective, timely inventory acquisition.
  • Forecasting demand and communicating with suppliers.
  • Preparing supplier performance reports and managing supplier relationships, including negotiations on pricing, lead times, and agreements like Kanban.
  • Ensuring supplier adherence to SLAs and resolving quality issues with QA collaboration.
  • Coordinating with engineering for New Product Introductions to meet supply and operational needs.
  • Evaluating and onboarding new suppliers through QA/ISO systems.
  • Maintaining procurement data integrity in business systems.
  • Managing item attributes and supporting Coherent's Kanban strategy.
  • Participating in procurement activities such as part parameter management, quoting, and database maintenance.
  • Performing cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities.
  • Achieving KPIs such as supplier OTD, inventory targets, and compliance standards.
  • Managing relationships with key local suppliers and supporting Strategic Sourcing Managers.

**Education and Work Experience:**

  • Experience in Purchasing/Logistics within an MRP and Kanban environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Oracle and Cumulus experience is advantageous.
  • Degree qualification, ideally CIPS/BPICS certified, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic and global commodities.
  • Solution-oriented approach to operational issues.
  • Strong administrative, communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
