Job description

A global manufacturer of high technology, electro-mechanical products is currently recruiting a Senior Buyer to work with their R&D team at their site in Fareham.

This opportunity sits within a specialised Supply Chain Team with close collaboration with the Mechanical Design team. The key focus is the selection of suppliers, price negotiation, and direct procurement of engineering parts and materials relating to the development of new products.

Other responsibilities include:

  1. Manage the introduction of new parts into the supply chain to meet cost, quality, and project requirements.
  2. Select, evaluate, and approve new suppliers to meet current and future projects.
  3. Manage early supplier involvement activities including Design for cost and quality.
  4. Implement and maintain contractual agreements and statements of work.

The ideal person for this position will have procurement experience within a mechanical or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment (ideally aerospace, defence, marine, or automotive). Strong supplier selection, negotiation, and supplier relationship skills are also required for this role.

A formal qualification in a technical or business discipline is required, and a CIPS qualification is desirable.

The position is based on site 4 days a week with an option for 1 day a week remote. The benefits include an Annual Bonus, 25 days holiday, private healthcare, electric car scheme, life assurance, and company pension up to 9%.
