PKF Smith Cooper is the home of PKF in the Midlands. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do, and it’s our job to help them thrive by creating successful, longstanding relationships.

Location: Birmingham

Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours)

Salary: Dependant on experience

Are you seeking a new challenge in business recovery and restructuring? We have an exciting opportunity available in our brand-new office located in Birmingham City Centre, featuring stunning views from our rooftop terrace and a fully equipped gym.

This role will be crucial to our firm’s ambitious growth plans, which aim to double our size over the next five years. If you want to be part of a firm where you can make a significant impact, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

In this position, you will work closely with the Business Recovery and Restructuring (BRR) Partner, supporting the continued growth of the West Midlands BRR department. You will be involved in various cases and collaborate with the wider BRR team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for significant progression, as the firm recently promoted over 15% of its staff in the latest promotion panel.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a similar role or be ready to step up from a managerial position.

The important work you will be doing:

  • Manage a diverse team ranging from apprentices to assistant managers.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines for a portfolio of cases.
  • Oversee the team's caseload management.
  • Assist the team with case strategy and hold production meetings.
  • Provide training to the team where appropriate.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders, including directors, shareholders, and employees.
  • Monitor the progress of investigations within their portfolio.
  • Undertake advisory work directly from partners.
  • Supervise the advisory work of more senior team members.
  • Monitor and ensure that team KPIs are met on a monthly basis.
  • Guarantee that monthly billing targets are achieved.

The skills and experience you will bring:

  • Proven track record of managing a large portfolio of cases.
  • Experience in all aspects of insolvency processes including Administrations, Company Voluntary Arrangements, liquidations, and personal insolvency.
  • Experience in undertaking Independent Business Reviews and trading administrations would be preferable.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experience in interpreting accounting information.
  • Previous experience using IPS software preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
