Job summary

S&W in Manchester is seeking an Associate Director for its Business Rates team. You will value commercial property assets using comparable, receipts and expenditure, and contractors methods. You will manage key client accounts and attend client meetings, delivering expert advice and strategic relief opportunities.

You will stay up to date with case law, support junior staff, and work closely with the National Head of Business Rates to drive opportunities for clients and the firm.

Qualifications

• BSc/MSc in MRICS accredited real estate undergraduate/postgraduate degree or IRRV accreditation.
• Experience as a business rates surveyor with Manchester and North of England.
• Knowledge of business rates software (Riverlake, Analyse) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse business rates caseload across valuation methods.
• Keep abreast of business rates case law and upper tribunal developments.
• Navigate the Check, Challenge and Appeal Framework in England for business rates.
• Manage key client accounts and allocated rating workload.
• Lead client site inspections; assess opportunities for relief applications.
• Present facts to clients to manage risk and achieve the best outcome.
• Operate as a confident negotiator with VOA and networks of rating professionals.
• Provide guidance to colleagues and assist National Head of Business Rates with opportunities.
