Job description

Are you an experienced HR leader looking for your next challenge in the public sector?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join a respected public sector body on an interim basis. You will work closely with the Head of HR to lead and manage the HR Business Partnering team and provide a cohesive, high-impact HR service across the organisation.

This is a strategic and operational leadership role where your expertise will directly influence workforce planning, organisational development, policy design, and change management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide visible leadership and management to the HR Business Partnering function
Develop and deliver strategic people projects and workforce change programmes
Lead HR support across directorates and support the Head of HR in service delivery
Oversee workforce planning and resource allocation aligned to organisational needs
Collaborate with trade unions and internal stakeholders to deliver effective HR outcomes
Ensure compliance with employment legislation, HR best practices, and internal governance
Drive performance management, policy development, and continuous improvement
Coach, guide and influence stakeholders at all levels

Essential Skills & Experience:
Degree-level qualification (or equivalent)
CIPD qualified (Chartered or higher)
Significant experience in HR operations and strategic HR projects
Demonstrated success leading workforce/organisational change initiatives
Strong stakeholder engagement and team leadership skills
In-depth understanding of employment law, policy, and best practice
Confident communicator, negotiator, and influencer
Comfortable managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
Skilled in working with trade unions in a partnership approach
Excellent presentation, chairing, and facilitation skills
