Job Description

Senior Business Officer | 7639 | Permanent contract | £25,584 to £27,269 per annum (Scale E) | 37 hours per week | Reed House, Norwich

Are you ready to make a real impact? Norfolk County Council invites you to join our dynamic HomeFirst Hub team. We’re seeking a Senior Business Officer to ensure safe discharges, admission avoidance, reablement opportunities, and ongoing care planning for individuals in crisis and leaving hospital.

The HomeFirst Hub operates as an integrated team, collaborating closely with Norfolk Community Health & Care (NCH&C), NHS Acute colleagues, the Voluntary sector, and other Norfolk County Council teams.

Your main tasks include answering and signposting calls, taking referrals from healthcare professionals, monitoring inboxes, taking notes from morning huddles to update and distribute reports, data input, and updating patient records on Liquid Logic (LAS) and SystmOne.

You should be a team player with good working knowledge of Teams, Excel, data entry, and Microsoft Outlook. Multitasking is essential—you’ll be word processing notes while handling phone calls. Flexibility, adaptability, a positive attitude, and respect for sensitive data are crucial.

This role involves dealing with individuals in crisis; candidates must possess resilience, empathy, and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations. Please consider whether you are comfortable working with people facing urgent and challenging circumstances before applying.

This is an exciting time to join the HomeFirst Hub as we are developing our services. We expect committed performance but will provide a strong induction, opportunities to learn new skills, and a supportive environment.

The position is hybrid, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week office-based work at Reed House on Broadland Business Park. The team operates 7 days a week: Monday-Friday 08:00-18:00, Saturday 09:00-17:00, and Sunday 10:00-16:00. You will work 1 in 4 weekends, following a 4-weekly pattern.
