Role Summary

As a senior human resource business partner, you will ensure we have the right people strategies to develop the full potential of our leaders, managers and teams. Your HR expertise and exceptional interpersonal skills are essential to thrive in this role within a fast-paced environment. As a business focused senior human resource partner, you will support Altera's short and long-term HR strategy.

The role's scope and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Influences and partners with BU leaders and Centres of Excellence (COEs) to develop and execute an effective human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization.
  2. Manages the Human Resources (HR) strategy including identifying, aligning, and optimizing the HR programs, processes, and services enabling business success.
  3. Conducts effectiveness coaching with senior leaders to improve leadership capability or the resolution of leadership gaps and coaches, mentors and/or advises employees at all levels to help drive growth and development.
  4. Provides workforce planning and organization assessment to support incremental and transformational organizational change.
  5. Partners with relevant leadership teams to deliver against the business and people objectives, promoting a high-performance culture and serves on the staff for their aligned senior leader.
  6. Encourages positive employee relations by using sensing tools, engaging directly with employees, and monitoring organizational health.
  7. Acts as a steward of corporate HR practices, guidelines, and policies and role models Altera's culture and values creating a work environment in which people treat each other with respect and dignity, regardless of their roles, responsibilities, or differences.
  8. Uses credible domain expertise to lead talent decisions, forecasting and workforce planning, in partnership with business and Talent Acquisition partners to enable a holistic strategic workforce plan.
  9. Provides advice and counsel to Executives and Sr. Leaders on all talent matters, identifying key talent, organizational planning, succession, talent reviews, recognition and rewards, performance improvement, terminations, employee relations issues, and corporate people movement.
  10. Partners with leaders to address the root causes of HR issues by leveraging strong organization, business, and financial acumen to increase productivity, engagement, and organization health.
  11. Manages the talent pools at the business level and plays an active role in the recruitment and interview processes, influencing selection processes that encourage diversity of candidates, geographic workforce, and use of best hiring practices to attract talent.
  12. Uses data to understand the health of talent, and related HR services, within the business and develops interventions in partnership with the COEs to resolve business challenges.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. BA/BS degree or equivalent; or at least 7+ years of experience in lieu of the degree
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of European employment laws and regulations, as well as HR policies and procedures
  3. International HR experience a plus, particularly, but not exclusively, for UK, Germany, France.
  4. At least 5+ years’ experience with three or more of the core aspects of human resource management:
    1. Employee relations
    2. Performance management
    3. Leadership development
    4. Coaching
    5. Change management
    6. Talent Acquisition
    7. Workforce planning
    8. Talent management
    9. Organizational planning
    10. Solid experience developing solutions based upon data analytics

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Language skills: English, German, French
  2. Master's degree
  3. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CIPD) is a plus.
  4. Demonstrable ability to influence decision-making with leaders and business partners.
  5. Strong organizational skills: demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs
  6. Ability to think strategically and translate concepts into actionable items
  7. Experience conducting investigations and managing a structured performance management process
  8. Consultative style and approach with ability to develop credible relationships with business partners
  9. Demonstrated experience successfully partnering with executives and managers in support of business objectives
  10. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  11. Experience working in a global, matrixed, and diverse environment, with exposure to different cultures and practices.
