Senior Business Development Manager – Major Projects & Connections

UK Remote (with travel to Leeds/London)

Permanent

Up to £90k DOE + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits

Drive growth. Win work. Shape the future of high-voltage infrastructure.

We’re hiring a Senior Business Development Manager to help us grow our presence in the HV infrastructure and major connections market. Following recent strategic wins, this is a pivotal role in our Major Projects & Connections team — focused on building long-term client relationships, securing new opportunities, and shaping early-stage projects.

This isn’t just about bids — it’s about strategic selling, influencing project direction, and opening doors in a fast-evolving sector. If you’ve worked in power, utilities, energy, or infrastructure, and understand how to win and grow major projects, we want to hear from you.

Some of the key deliverables will include:

  • Leading business development activity across our HV Infrastructure and Major Connections portfolio.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the power, energy, and regulated infrastructure sectors.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, consultants, DNOs/IDNOs, developers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Positioning our business early through Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), framework negotiations, and strategic partnerships.
  • Coordinating with the Pre-Construction, Estimating, and Delivery teams to develop winning solutions.
  • Representing the business at key industry events and client presentations.
  • Influencing win strategies, commercial positioning, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Tracking market intelligence, competitor activity, and future pipeline opportunities.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a commercially sharp, strategic thinker with a strong network and a proven record of winning work in the HV / Power / Utilities / Infrastructure sectors.

You might currently be a Senior Business Development Manager, Work Winning Lead, Sales Director, or a Commercial Manager with client-facing experience and a focus on early-stage project strategy.

You’ll bring:

  • Deep understanding of HV infrastructure, major connections, and/or power sector contracting.
  • Strong client development and consultative sales experience (ideally on projects valued £5m–£20m+).
  • Experience with NEC, JCT or FIDIC forms of contract and a good grasp of commercial risk.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills at all levels.
  • A proactive, resilient, and collaborative mindset – focused on long-term client success.

What’s in it for you?

We believe in rewarding performance and supporting your personal and professional growth.

  • Competitive salary + Car/Car Allowance
  • Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme
  • Up to 8% employer pension contribution
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme – 24/7 mental health support
  • Flexible benefits – including Dental, Gym, Travel Insurance, and more
  • Career development programme tailored to you
  • Volunteer & Wellbeing Days

Next Steps

As a business, we’re on a journey to build on our culture where everyone is included, treated fairly and with respect. This starts with recruitment and how we bring people into the organisation.

We’ll do our best to outline the recruitment process to you ahead of time with plenty of notice. If you require any accommodations to participate in the application or interview process, please let us know and we will work with you to ensure your needs are met.
