Position Overview

This is a key role in the EMEA Digital Commerce team, leading the EMEA DTC Digital Business Development team. The role involves working with business stakeholders to support pre-season and in-season operations, trading of Ralph Lauren’s European marketplace, digital concession relationships, and supporting wider RL Digital Business development research. It offers opportunities to work with new and existing business relationships.

The role collaborates with marketplace vendor teams, RL EMEA Merchandising, RL Wholesale, RL wholesale marketing, BI analytics, finance, warehouse teams, and others to achieve growth goals, enhance customer experience, and ensure successful project launches.

Essential skills include excellent trading and commercial instincts, clear communication, disciplined task and project management, stakeholder engagement, and understanding of eCommerce platform architecture for integrations.

This position reports to the Head of Digital Commerce for EMEA & LATAM and manages a team of two.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify, model, scope, and promote profitable growth opportunities.
  2. Develop models and operational plans supporting business cases.
  3. Negotiate contracts with RL Legal and procurement to maximize benefits and minimize risks.
  4. Champion business development within DTC, promote team successes, and seek process improvements.
  5. Oversee operational activities of team members.
  6. Manage setup of product data for marketplace publication, including attributes and pricing.
  7. Coordinate with merchandising to develop assortment strategies aligned with brand and financial goals.
  8. Support marketing strategies to meet brand and financial targets.
  9. Oversee fulfillment KPIs, liaise with warehouse partners, and drive operational improvements.
  10. Motivate, train, and develop the Business Development team.
  11. Contribute to the vision for marketplace experiences and customer engagement strategies.
  12. Identify and design solutions for optimizing marketplace relationships and opportunities.
  13. Monitor KPIs and customer satisfaction, taking corrective actions as needed.
  14. Lead projects that benefit RL EMEA’s marketplace relationships.
  15. Stay informed on consumer trends, generate new eCommerce ideas, and assess their feasibility.
  16. Work with stakeholders to define requirements for new features and functionalities.
  17. Analyze market trends and develop detailed project requirements and communication plans.
  18. Support product development lifecycle, from deployment to post-launch, identifying and resolving issues.
  19. Collaborate with business groups to refine tools and processes supporting new features and operational efficiency.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Relevant experience and proven success in the field.
  • Experience managing digital or marketplace trading, ideally in fashion or similar consumer eCommerce sectors.
  • Proven success in establishing and maintaining marketplace relationships.
  • Strong commercial skills and decision-making in digital environments.
  • Problem-solving, multitasking, and deadline management skills.
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts at a functional level.
  • High curiosity, analytical skills, and negotiation abilities.
  • Passion for product development and customer/business problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of digital consumer journeys and supporting systems.
  • Familiarity with marketplace platforms, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Order Management Systems, and project management tools like Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, is desirable.
  • Experience working with Farfetch and Data Integrators like Tradebyte is a plus.
