About the Role

In this role and as a member of the global Credit & Surety team, you will be based in London or Munich reporting to the Head Business Development. You will drive the relationship with key clients and brokers. Key clients are mainly large commercial banks sharing risks in trade finance, project finance and sovereign lending with Swiss Re.

They typically work with us through loan syndication desks or specialist credit insurance desks. We work directly with banks, and also through dedicated credit & surety brokers who are important external stakeholders for our business.

Key responsibilities:

Independently handle client and broker relationships, navigate hierarchies and responsibilities, and constantly improve quality and quantity of engagement

Identify and analyse new business opportunities in close alignment and cooperation with our underwriting teams by accurately assessing credit and transactional risks, legal due diligence, following Swiss Re's processes and guidelines

Coordinate and work closely with our colleagues in underwriting, operations, legal, finance, etc. to ensure best-in-class service to our customer and broker relationships

Support the global head of credit & surety and the head business development with analyses, meeting insights/preparations, proposals and impactful meeting planning

Develop and implement structured engagement plans with key clients and brokers

Mentoring and advising younger professionals as the need arises

We pursue the goal of results-oriented Underwriting and are seeking to hire a dynamic individual who has significant experience and a proven track-record in the origination, structuring and underwriting of Credit & Surety solutions.

The positive relationship with our customers and brokers mainly in Europe but also in the Americas and Asia in addition with our strong brand is the basis for our success. Our global teams are based in Munich, Zurich, London, New York, Singapore and Madrid.

About You

As a Senior colleague we are looking for a confident strong communicator with good underlying knowledge of the Credit & Surety business. Strong negotiation skills and showcasing an innovative mindset to meet stakeholders at eye level are essential. You have:

7+ years of relevant working experience, preferably in a bank or credit insurance company

University graduate or equivalent degree in Finance, Economics, Business or similar.

Excellent understanding of financial markets including debt financing, capital market instruments, and industry knowledge

Strong analytical skills and ability to convert complex data into concise briefings and presentations for senior stakeholders

Relevant network within the credit & surety broker community and international commercial and trade finance banks

Proficiency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills is a must, additional language skills a plus (ideally French, German, Spanish or Italian)

The role will require some travel (up to 20%)
