Job description

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

We have an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven Senior Business Development Manager to take the lead in growing our presence across the UK&I Industrial and Commercial sector. In this high-impact role, you’ll focus on delivering annual revenues of £12–20 million, while building a strong pipeline of £100 million+ in unweighted opportunities for the following year—across our innovative energy solutions portfolio including CHP, solar, heat pumps and more.

About the role:

  • Design and deliver strategic sales initiatives using the Miller Heiman framework (or similar), focused on converting high-value industrial clients across the UK&I region.
  • Achieve £12–20 million in annual revenue, while building a forward pipeline worth ~£100 million in decarbonisation solutions.
  • Champion our brand at trade events, exhibitions, and webinars—driving visibility and credibility in front of key industry decision-makers.
  • Own the CRM: Lead rigorous sales tracking and forecasting in Salesforce, ensuring KPI visibility and insight-driven decisions.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Engineering, Commercial, Projects, O&M and Proposal Management teams to convert pipeline opportunities into delivered value.
  • Lead the full bid process, ensuring governance alignment, opportunity assessment, and risk management at every stage.
  • Steer sales operations, from pipeline reporting and sector targeting to strategic forecasting and process refinement.
  • Translate market signals into actionable insights—advising the leadership team on competitor movements and shifting customer priorities.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in high-value B2B sales within the energy or sustainability sector—specifically selling CHP, solar, and heat pump solutions to I&C clients.
  • Hands-on experience navigating complex stakeholder environments and driving opportunities through from prospecting to close.
  • Deep commercial fluency: comfortable with sales margins, IRR, NPV, and financing models like PPA or EaaS.
  • Sound understanding of UKI Net Zero policy, market trends and regulatory drivers.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce (or equivalent CRM), and comfort working with sales performance tools and dashboards.
  • Consultative approach grounded in Miller Heiman methodology or similar strategic selling frameworks.
  • Gravitas and communication skills to influence from factory floor to boardroom.
