Job Summary:
- The Senior Business Architect will be responsible for supporting and operationalising Beazley’s strategy; combining people, process, data and technology through collaboration across relevant Beazley functions
- Driving efficiencies in business models and processes and helping to develop business capabilities in line with the organisational strategic goals
- Key role in aligning the business strategy with change initiatives and strategic programmes, acting as key link between the programme scope and business outcomes
- Acting as the conduit between technology and business teams
- Support the management and governance of future state operating model business architecture, driving efficiency for the business and ensuring effective transformation of the business
- Instrumental in driving best practice, standards and positive change across the organisation
Key Responsibilities:
Business Architecture
- Take a holistic view across all business process and change within the organisation, whilst keeping sight on business strategy
- Collaborate with Process Architects to identify necessary ‘process infrastructure’ improvements and define business process models
- Support the function and supporting teams to further develop, maintain and deploy the business architecture framework
- Implement business simplification by using business architecture assets to highlight opportunities for standardising processes and portfolios where possible, working with expertise from other teams, such as Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, etc.
Strategy Definition/ Delivery
- Translate business strategy into a robust operational framework
- Work with Corporate Development on new initiatives and consult on operational implications or improvements.
- Interpret and support the implementation of the high level strategic operating structure and identify opportunities for improvements in effectiveness and operational efficiency
- Ensure alignment of business and IT change initiatives to business strategy priorities to ensure the portfolio of change supports the future state operating model design
- Ensure continuity between the Executive, IT and the Business
Business Operating Models
- Work with senior management to define the Operating Models/Distribution channels
- Interpret and deliver (T)OMs that enable the organisation to deliver its business strategy and with clear ‘bottom up’ view of current process impacts and alignment with IT
- Support the design of future state business architecture for Beazley in terms of how products and propositions, customer channels, people, business processes and technology elements inter-operate
- Provide oversight and design governance on key operational and solution design decisions
- Understand complex business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements, design and implement solutions that meet them, and where feasible in line with the group’s strategic vision
Business Capabilities
- Own overall business capabilities and linkage to technology and data enablers to these capabilities
- Work with Tech Architecture to identify the need for technology within the business to enable it to deliver the strategy
- Coordinate with solutions architecture team to deliver systems that best meets business needs, interpreting how key solution design decisions will impact business outcomes
- Consult on technical, operational and business architecture dimensions, to ensure they understand the business architecture implications of decisions and alignment to the business strategy
- Attend Design Authority sessions, acting as a conduit between technical architects and the business, driving the activity needed to resolve Key Design Decisions
Personal Specification:
Skills and Abilities
- Deep understanding of Business Models, Value Chains, Value Streams and Business Capabilities
- Ability to work at both detailed and summary level
- The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise
- Strong people management skills, with ability to coach more junior team members
Certifications (preferable)
- Certified Business Architect (CBA) and/or
- BCS Professional Certificate in Business Architecture
Knowledge and Experience
- Relevant experience in the insurance industry (preferably Lloyd’s or Company market)
- General commercial and financial knowledge
- Process/project management experience
- Experience of writing and implementing guideline and setting performance measures
