Senior Business Analyst, Institutional Banking & Distribution, Business Development (Fluency in French is desirable)

Location - London

Founded in 2007, our client is one of the fastest-growing banks of its kind in the UK. They offer personal and corporate savings products, finance for UK residential and commercial property, and sourcing and advising on UK real estate investments.

Key Responsibilities:

This role supports the Head of Wholesale Banking & Financing Solutions and Deputy Head of Institutional Banking & Distribution in driving IB business strategy in Sub-Saharan Africa, managing existing African FI relationships, and enhancing profitability in line with the Bank’s Risk Appetite, IBFI budget projections, target markets, and the Bank's global strategy.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Supporting the Relationship Manager in achieving the Department’s Budget.
  • Driving business origination by marketing new relationships to improve revenue, onboarding, and retaining income-generating clients.
  • Preparing and delivering sound credit applications for review by the Credit Risk team for new and existing relationships. Candidates should be analytical with an excellent understanding of Financial Statement Analysis for Banking Clients and related sectors.
  • Ensuring compliance requirements and reviews for Institutional Banking, including full KYC review and onboarding for new prospects and KYB reviews for existing clients.
  • Collaborating with the Business Risk Review team to ensure timely completion of client outreaches and KYC/KYB memos with no adverse findings.
  • Monitoring due dates of Annual Financial Statement Reviews for IBU clients and obtaining Board approval for extensions prior to expiration.
  • Preparing approved limit extension requests for Credit Risk consideration, ensuring system limits are updated post-approval.
  • Weekly distribution of the Financial Institutions Limits Report.
  • Handling customer queries efficiently.
  • Supporting Relationship Managers in prospecting, due diligence, monitoring, and portfolio management.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Experience within Financial Institutions, UK Regulatory knowledge, and a good understanding of Credit Analysis, KYC & KYB requirements for FIs, research skills, and excellent analytical skills.
  • Understanding of International Trade Finance.
  • Previous experience working in the African market is highly advantageous.
  • French speaking is desirable.
  • Experience with audited financial statements for Banks, Excel, Moody’s Analytical tools, Risk Rating tools, and Flex Reports.
