Job summary

AtkinsRéalis Group is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to support digital, data and transformation programmes within the Secure Government business unit. You will lead requirements development, define user needs, and ensure assurance and stakeholder alignment across public sector projects.

The role offers flexible and remote working policies, with opportunities to work on strategic programmes across London, Cheltenham or Manchester.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering business analysis in complex environments.
• Experience with government, defence or security sectors preferred.

• As a Senior Business Analyst in our Secure Government business unit, you will support digital, data and transformation programmes, with a particular focus on the public sector. You will be an integral part of our Digital, Data and AI consulting team and will help clients define needs, manage requirements and deliver change in contexts where assurance, security, compliance and stakeholder alignment are central to successful outcomes
• Delivering exceptional results for our clients by putting value at the core of everything we do
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives and shape the culture and behaviours required for successful digital adoption
• Analysing processes and operations, working closely with stakeholders and using appropriate tools and techniques to identify improvements in accordance with client objectives, including workshop facilitation
• Leading end‑to‑end requirements development, from initial business needs through to defining detailed user requirements, ensuring clear translation, traceability and alignment with organisational objectives
• Developing and leading transformation roadmaps that form the foundation of digital change for our clients
• Influencing Agile delivery practices, helping to shape key activities and actively participating in sprints, scrums and retrospectives
• Identifying and implementing improvements to business insight methods, tools and approaches, including exploring how AI‑enabled approaches can enhance efficiency, insight and value
• Championing stakeholders needs, ensuring solutions are aligned to user needs, operational requirements and business goals
• Gathering and analysing information to produce clear and concise documentation, presentations and recommendations to support decision-making

A track record of delivering tangible outcomes for clients, with a proactive approach and the ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomesA track record of delivering technology-led transformation programmes across strategy, business design and change management, supported by strong digital awareness and an interest in emerging technologies and AI-enabled solutionsAttained or working towards professional certifications such as the BCS Business analysis Diploma, or equivalentExperience working with Government, Defence or Security organisationsExperience operating within Agile delivery environments, with proficiency in business insight and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps and Visio, alongside knowledge of recognised delivery frameworks e.g. APMP, Scrum, SAFe, MSP and DSDMAnalytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience gathering and translating user needs and business requirements into clear user stories and acceptance criteria that support effective solution design and deliveryStrong communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and present effectively to a range of audiences, including senior stakeholdersExperience operating at a Senior level - either within a consulting environment or in a comparable client-facing role as a Business Analyst - including managing complex stakeholder environments, working through ambiguity and supporting informed judgmentLocation requirements:Applicants should be based within reasonable commuting distance of one of our following office locations: London, Cheltenham or ManchesterThe flexibility to work directly with clients, including periods embedded within client teams and on client sites when requiredProactivity in shaping the future of our team and contributing to our communitiesThe successful candidate will bring a blend of strong business insight expertise, consulting capability, and an interest in helping National Security clients solve complex challenges through digital and operational transformationA consulting mindset, demonstrating adaptability, curiosity and a willingness to contribute beyond the boundaries of a traditional Business Analyst role when needed
