Senior Business Analyst - Permanent, Grade 5 - £42,839 - £51,356. Working 36.5 hours per week.

About the Role

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the Council's financial planning, management, and performance. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Head of Corporate Finance, you will oversee delivery within designated service areas, ensuring high standards of financial control, compliance, and reporting. This is both a technical and people leadership role - you'll supervise a team, guide budget managers, and provide high-quality financial insight that supports long-term planning and decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Finance Manager, making decisions and providing leadership across the service area.
  • Lead and supervise a finance team, overseeing workload allocation, performance, development, and recruitment.
  • Provide expert advice to budget holders and senior officers, ensuring effective financial management and efficiency.
  • Analyse and interpret complex financial information, including reports from analysts, to influence decision-making.
  • Deliver accurate forecasting, modelling, and long-term financial planning to support strategic and operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, Council standing orders, and financial policies.
  • Oversee the delivery of projects, management reporting, and business plans, ensuring KPIs and service standards are met.
  • Maintain and develop financial systems, databases, and records to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Promote continuous improvement in financial services, identifying opportunities to enhance processes and customer service.
  • Represent the finance function with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and a customer-focused approach.
